League authority
League Constitution
This online constitution consolidates the league's historical keeper notices, the 2025 draft-pick vote, confirmed commissioner interpretations and current Yahoo settings. League HQ is the official record for rules and draft-pick ownership that Yahoo cannot administer directly.
Any Given Sunday is a private, ten-franchise Yahoo Fantasy Football keeper league governed by this constitution and administered by the commissioner.
- The commissioner maintains the official rulebook, draft-pick ledger, keeper records and trade ledger.
- Yahoo governs scoring, weekly lineups, waivers and player transactions unless this constitution establishes a league-specific rule.
- League-specific keeper and future-pick rules recorded in League HQ control where Yahoo cannot administer them directly.
- The commissioner may interpret an unclear provision in good faith, provided the ruling is consistent with the purpose and prior operation of the league.
- Material permanent rule changes should be communicated to the league and, where appropriate, decided by league vote.
02League format and roster
- The league has ten franchises and uses head-to-head scoring beginning in Week 1.
- The annual draft is conducted online through Yahoo during the final week of August on a date selected by the commissioner.
- The standard draft has 15 rounds. The 2023 draft had 16 rounds because the league carried one additional bench position that season.
- Roster positions are QB, 3 WR, 2 RB, TE, W/R/T flex, K, DEF, 5 bench positions and 1 IR position.
- The IR position is an additional roster slot and does not create an additional draft round.
- There is no season or weekly acquisition limit and no season trade limit.
Each franchise may keep zero to three players each season.
- Any player on a franchise's roster when keeper submissions lock is eligible to be submitted as a keeper, including players acquired through the draft, trade, waivers or free agency.
- For keeper administration, the preceding season remains open until the annual keeper deadline. Franchises may execute offseason trades before submissions lock, and a player acquired during that period may be kept by the acquiring franchise.
- A drafted player's initial keeper grade is the round in which that player was drafted.
- An undrafted waiver or free-agent acquisition receives the final-round keeper grade for that season's draft structure.
- A player's keeper grade and keeper-year history follow the player through trades, drops, waivers and reacquisition. Those events do not reset the keeper clock.
- The commissioner may correct a keeper grade when historical records establish that an earlier record was entered incorrectly.
- A player may be kept for a maximum of three keeper seasons.
- The first keeper season costs the player's assigned keeper grade.
- The second keeper season costs one round earlier than the actual draft pick forfeited in the prior keeper season.
- The third keeper season costs one additional round earlier than the actual draft pick forfeited in the second keeper season and is the player's final eligible keeper season.
- When a duplicate grade, missing pick or transition rule causes a keeper to consume an earlier pick than the player's nominal grade, that actual forfeited pick becomes the progression baseline for the following season.
- A fourth consecutive keeper season is not permitted. The player must return to the draft pool.
- A keeper cost cannot move earlier than Round 1. A Round 1 keeper therefore remains a Round 1 cost in subsequent eligible keeper seasons.
- When the number of draft rounds changes, an undrafted player's final-round designation is capped at the final round of the upcoming draft before normal escalation is applied.
In 2025, the league endorsed future draft-pick trading and the requirement that a franchise hold the draft capital needed to support its keeper selections.
- A franchise must own a separate draft pick capable of satisfying each submitted keeper cost.
- A keeper may be paid with a pick in the assigned round or with an earlier pick. A later pick may not be used.
- One draft pick cannot satisfy more than one keeper.
- If two keepers carry the same grade, the franchise may use two picks in that round if it owns them. Otherwise, the second keeper must use the next available earlier pick.
- The system should allocate the latest valid owned pick by default so that higher-value picks are preserved wherever possible.
- For the 2026 draft only, a franchise may carry up to two Round 1-grade keepers using its Round 1 and Round 2 picks under the prior collision rule.
- A franchise may not carry three Round 1-grade keepers in 2026 unless it owns at least two Round 1 picks. In that circumstance, the third keeper must be matched to the next valid available pick under commissioner validation.
- Beginning with the 2027 draft, every Round 1-grade keeper requires a separately owned Round 1 pick.
- A submission that cannot be matched to valid owned picks is invalid until the owner changes the keeper selections, acquires the required pick or receives a commissioner-approved correction.
- Keeper selection occurs in mid-August. The commissioner establishes and publishes the exact keeper deadline each year.
- Owners submit between zero and three keepers through League HQ and may revise their selections until the published deadline.
- Keeper submissions remain private from other owners before the deadline. The commissioner may view all submissions for validation and administration.
- After the deadline, submissions lock, the commissioner resolves any exceptions and all approved keepers are published together.
- A submitted keeper is not official until the commissioner approves the league-wide keeper slate.
- A major injury or suspension occurring after submission may qualify for a replacement request. The historical standard is an expected absence of approximately half the season or more, with the commissioner determining whether the request fits the purpose of the exception.
- Each franchise receives one pick in every round for each future draft season issued by the league.
- For most of the league year, each franchise has two future draft years available to trade.
- On August 1 each year, the league issues the third future draft year. Those picks become owned and tradable immediately, creating a temporary three-year trading window through the annual draft.
- For the 2026 operating cycle, 2028 draft picks become available on August 1, 2026.
- Every pick remains permanently identified by its season, round and original franchise, regardless of how many times it is traded.
- All trades involving draft picks must be reported to and recorded by the commissioner. Yahoo's player-trade record alone is not sufficient.
- The current owner of a pick controls the player selected with that pick, while the pick's draft position remains tied to the original franchise's selected draft slot.
- Until draft slots are finalized, League HQ displays the position of each future pick as undetermined.
- The league uses a weighted random draw to establish the order in which franchises choose their draft slots.
- Being drawn first gives a franchise the first choice of draft slot; it does not automatically assign that franchise the first overall pick.
- The selected slot applies to all picks originally belonging to that franchise, including picks that have been traded to another owner.
- Keeper selections are finalized before the draft-slot selection process because keeper availability may influence preferred draft position.
- Five franchises receive a 15% chance in the lottery: the four lowest-finishing teams and the winner of the consolation game.
- Each of the remaining five franchises receives a 5% chance in the lottery.
- The Yahoo draft will reflect keeper forfeitures and traded-pick ownership as closely as the platform permits.
- A draft pick acquired by trade is an additional selection in that round. It does not replace the franchise's original pick unless the original pick was separately traded away.
- A franchise may therefore hold multiple selections in the same round and may enter the draft with more or fewer than 15 total draft assets.
- A franchise holding more than 15 total draft assets will lose its lowest-value selections until no more than 15 remain. Removals begin with the latest available round and continue toward earlier rounds as required.
- If multiple picks have the same lowest round value, the commissioner will designate the specific original-owner pick removed while preserving the league ledger.
- A franchise holding fewer than 15 draft assets will not receive replacement selections. It must fill any remaining roster positions through free agency after the draft.
- Keeper placements count toward the 15-player roster even though the corresponding selections are forfeited to place the keeper.
- An intentionally empty draft position is recorded as an empty selection rather than assigned to a player retroactively.
- Trades are reviewed by the commissioner with a one-day review period in Yahoo.
- There is no maximum number of trades for the season.
- The annual Yahoo trade deadline is established in the league settings and published by the commissioner for each season.
- Player portions of trades are processed in Yahoo. Draft-pick portions are recorded in League HQ and may also be stated in Yahoo trade notes or league communications.
- A player retains the same keeper grade and keeper-year history after a trade.
- The commissioner may reverse or correct a ledger entry when the recorded assets do not match the accepted trade, while preserving an audit record of the correction.
11Waivers and free agency
- Waivers use a free-agent budget with reverse order of standings as the tiebreaker.
- The waiver period is two days and weekly waivers run from game time through Tuesday.
- Players may be added directly to an available IR position when Yahoo assigns an eligible injury designation.
- Post-draft players follow waiver rules.
- Yahoo's Can't Cut List applies.
- Six franchises qualify for the playoffs, played in Weeks 15, 16 and 17.
- The two highest seeds receive first-round byes under the Yahoo playoff bracket.
- Playoff reseeding is enabled.
- If a playoff matchup is tied, the higher seed advances.
- Eliminated teams are not automatically locked and may continue to manage their rosters, subject to good-faith competitive conduct.
- The championship, runner-up and third-place results are recorded as the final top-three season finishes.
AGS uses fractional and negative scoring with 0.5 points per reception.
- Passing: 1 point per 25 yards, 4 points per passing touchdown and -2 points per interception.
- Rushing: 1 point per 10 yards and 6 points per rushing touchdown.
- Receiving: 0.5 points per reception, 1 point per 10 yards and 6 points per receiving touchdown.
- Other offense: 6 points for return touchdowns, 2 points for two-point conversions, -2 for a lost fumble and 6 for an offensive fumble-return touchdown.
- Kicking: 3 points for field goals from 0-39 yards, 4 from 40-49 yards, 5 from 50 or more yards and 1 for a made extra point.
- Defense and special teams: 1 point per sack; 2 per interception, fumble recovery, safety, blocked kick or returned extra point; and 6 per touchdown or kick/punt-return touchdown.
- Points allowed: 10 for 0, 7 for 1-6, 4 for 7-13, 1 for 14-20, 0 for 21-27, -1 for 28-34 and -4 for 35 or more.
- The commissioner publishes annual dates, Yahoo setting changes, transitional rules and any required operating clarifications before the relevant deadline.
- A season-specific notice may supplement this constitution but should not silently change a permanent rule.
- If Yahoo settings and this Rulebook conflict on a league-specific keeper or pick issue, the Rulebook and League HQ ledger control.
- The current online version of the constitution is the official version. Material revisions should include an effective date or version note.
